Bohemian Strings performing for themed events

This is a "Thank you" letter we received after our string quartet's performance at a themed dinner organised at the occasion of the Titanic anniversary. At the same time, it was an evening of dance music for the Tango Society, a very enjoyable intimate occasion in a private venue.

Apart from emotional and passionate tango numbers, we also played period music believed to have been done on Titanic - light classical music, ragtimes, and waltzes.

To finish the evening faithfully, our last piece of music, after the "Captain's" last words, was "Nearer, My God, To Thee" - a tune played by the Titanic's band before the ship sunk.

Viennese Waltz Gala

A short time before this event, the Bohemian Strings string quartet performed for a larger Waltz Dance Society in the Dining Hall at Trinity College Dublin.

Bohemian Strings played for people who danced along to our 3-hour long waltz set. To create a lasting Viennese Orchestra (or Andre Rieu?) impression, the ensemble was boosted by a double bass (in addition to the usual 2 violins, viola, and cello), and amplified by the state-of-the-art Bose amplification.

The most popular numbers proved to be Tchaikovski's "Sleeping Beauty" waltz, Schostakovich's Waltz N.2 (featured in the movie "Eyes Wide Shut"), and Amelie's Waltz (featured in the movie "Amelie from Montmartre") arranged for string quartet by the Bohemian Strings. Our music was enthusiastically received - and the ensemble was invited to compliment the occasion again next year!
